The meeting will deliver a high-level call to action for preparedness and resilience for emerging threats. The voices of leaders from communities, countries and different sector implementation partners are key for generating momentum for better infectious disease preparedness, and will be heard during the meeting.
In view of the meeting, EuroNet is collecting European Public Health residents’ experiences of the preparedness for and management of the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to bring residents’ voice and views at the meeting.
Join us in Genoa, Italy, on June 21-23 for the 2023 edition of EuroNet’s Spring Meeting! The congress is organized by the Organizing Committee of the School of Hygiene and Preventive Medicine of the University of Genova in collaboration with EuroNet MRPH Board and Leads.
This year’s theme is:
HEALTH IN A CHANGING WORLD Climate change and the environmental emergency: from prevention to consequences.
Our generation is facing a devastating and imminent crisis that cannot be ignored. Increasing extreme weather phenomena are already having catastrophic consequences on our planet and its living beings, and are expected to have profound effects on societies worldwide.
With the help of amazing international speakers, the Spring Meeting 2023 will be an opportunity to explore future public health challenges in a changing world, including environmental degradation, mental illnesses, emerging infectious diseases, migration, climate change communication in public health, and global inequities in the face of the climate crisis. Through our plenary sessions, workshops, and debates, we will also discuss possible ways forward and the frameworks that might guide Public Health in that direction, including One Health and Circular Health.

This year, Lyon and Villeurbanne had the pleasure to host the EuroNet MRPH spring meeting 2022!
The first face-to-face meeting after 2 years of COVID- 19 pandemic.
“Happiness, unity and reunion” are the words that could describe this congress best.
Happiness: to finally see each other in person
Unity: to meet European colleagues, willing to learn and share knowledge about a very hot topic: “Global Health, the path to implement policies“.
Reunion: We can proudly say that almost 180 people attended the meeting.
Speakers from prestigious institutions and organisations such as Pr Agnès Buzyn (WHO), Dr Guillaume Dedet (OECD), Dr Serge Breysse (Solthis), Dr Luis Pizarro (UNITAID), Pr Didier Pittet (University Hospital of Geneva), Pr Andre Carvalho (IARC), Dr Shufhang Zhang (The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria) attended the congress as speakers. What an honour to welcome Pr Agnès Buzyn for the opening lecture.
WORKSHOPS AND ROUND TABLE
Participants also had the opportunity to attend workshops in 4 different structures on Friday morning: the Lymphoma Academic Research Organisation (Lysarc), Fondation Mérieux, Médecins du Monde (Doctors of the World) and Sanofi.
The goal of our event couldn’t have been fulfilled without constructive discussions about the COVID- 19 pandemic, and we decided to take advantage of the multiple skills of our speakers -Pr Pittet, Dr Pizarro, Dr Ortmans- to debate during a round table entitled “Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the global health approach”. The theme of Global Health architecture and diplomacy in time of pandemic was also explored during the second day of the conference. Simona Seravesi (WHO) and Marco Simonelli (ISS) presented the experience and efforts of the Italian G20 Presidency in promoting equitable, worldwide access to diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines.
FIRST EDITION OF THE EUROPEAN SCIENTIFIC CONTEST (ESC)
Eventually, the participants could attend and benefit from the first Euronet Scientific Contest (ESC), directly inspired by the CAISP, created by the CLISP, the french national PHR association. Seven residents from different countries had the opportunity to present their work to their colleagues and 6 other works were shown as posters! Great moments of knowledge sharing.
Congratulations to our Dutch fellow Inge Van De Luitgaarden who won the first edition of the contest with her study: “Alcohol-Attributable burden of cancer in Argentina”.
SOCIAL PROGRAM
Of course, the social program couldn’t miss this appointment! The Eurovision Song Contest, taking place during the same days of the congress, gave us the idea to have a thematic night and to share the enthusiasm of this event with all the European par- ticipants. We also gave a taste of “French cuisine” to the attendants with a dinner in a typical “Bouchon Lyonnais”s. This experience was truly enriched by some popular songs sung by participants from all over Europe, testing their choral skills in Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese. That’s why, EuroNet is also an exchange of culture and fun!
The Organizing Committee is pleased to invite you to Villeurbanne, Metropolitan area ofLyon, from the 12th to the 14th of May 2022 for the 2022 edition of the EuroNet Spring Meeting. This will be the first in-person meeting of EuroNet since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic: another great reason not to miss it!
The theme of this year will be “Global Health: the path to implement policies”. You will have the opportunity to discover the process that goes from the identification of a Global Health issue to the implementation and evaluation of Global Health policies. Speakers coming from international organizations will be hosted to talk about different Global Health topics: evolution of the concept of Global Health, actors and stakeholders, indicators and priorities, policy evaluation, etc.
Various activities, such as plenary sessions, round tables, and workshops, will be organized to get the most out of this meeting.
Time to have fun will not be missing for sure. The SOCIAL PROGRAM will include a city tour, a Eurovision party and of course food (let’s not forget that Lyon is the French capital of gastronomy).
